I have fond memories of gardening in the early days. I remember gathering vegetables for a big salad in the summertime at my grandmothers with all of my cousins. The only thing that was store bought was the Thousand Island dressing we put on top.
It's a great feeling when you plant a seed and watch it grow. It's even better when you can pick a juicy cherry tomato and pop it in your mouth right off of the plant. It's a simple wonderful feeling that we can give to our kiddos too. It teaches patience, caring, and responsibility. That one seed and a little soil.
You don't have to have acres of land to grow, there are so many options out there. Find a sunny spot in your yard, grab a flower pot, and plant seeds. Visit a farm to see what a pepper plant looks like or how long a cucumber vine grows.
Teach them that playing in the dirt is ok!
